A BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL, ZHI EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 11TH-10TH CENTURY BC The vessel has an elongated, pear-shaped body of oblong section encircled by a scroll band on the shoulder, and is raised on a spreading pedestal foot encircled by a band of diagonal scroll interrupted by four 'eyes'. The bronze has a dark grey patina and some light malachite encrustation. 6 in. (15.3 cm.) high
