A Builder's Style Model Of The Steam Yacht MAYFLOWER Anonymous, (British, 20th century) A large and dramatically detailed model of this former American Presidential yacht. The hull of the model is built up from the solid with white painted topsides, a green waterline and a red bottom. The decks of the model are from basswood veneer and have the planks drawn in India ink.The decks of the model are fitted with numerous structures and fittings which include: anchors and anchor chains, ventilators, capstan, bollards and cleats, stove pipe, hand railings along all the decks, companionways and doghouses of mahogany, ladders, bridge with binnacle and wheel, running lights, canopy frames, walkways, seven ship's boats swung out on davits, two masts with standing and running rigging, portholes, gangway, chocks, rudder, propellers and other details. The model is mounted on four turned mahogany pedestals in a glass and mahogany case. Within the case is a brass plate which reads: "The Presidential Yacht/ 'MAYFLOWER' /Built By/J&G Thompson Ltd Clydebank" along with the principal dimensions. 83¾ x 22 5/8 x 40 in. (212.8 x 57.4 x 101.6 cm.) cased dimensions.
