Flat-topped checkered pistolgrip stock of figured walnut. Cheekpiece. Sling-eyes. Matted steel buttplate engraved with vines and banding. Vacant gilded oval. Flat-topped checkered splinter fore-end with flush-mounted wedge and horn fore-end tip. Maker's oak and leather trunk with brass corners and furniture. Interior of case lined with red velvet Designs in gold on underside of lid with maker's name and address. Accessories include: gold-plated, ivory handled turnscrew, nipple wrench, chamber brush, 3 to 4 dram powder measure, 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 dram powder measure, de-capper and base, spring-loaded capping base, horse hair brush, and cartridge case crimper all marked G.& J.W. Hawksley. Unmarked three-piece rosewood cleaning rod with a ivory handle. Unmarked gold-plated grease jar. Gold-plated oil bottle marked with Rodda's name and address. Later bone striker box. Blued, mould with cutter numbered to the gun. Condition: Very Good. Barrels show 90-95 percent bluing turning brown. Bores show well-defined rifling with some frosting and slight pitting. Action, locks and furniture show a brown patina with traces of gilding. Stock shows an older refinish with nicks and scratches. Well-defined checkering. Oval shows losses. Fore-end shows a loss of a 2 1/2 inch sliver from left side. Horn fore-end tip shows a repair. Fore-end is slightly loose on barrels. Case in fair to good condition. Leather is dry with significant losses. Leather missing on front edge of lid. Large repair on underside. Interior shows significant losses to pile, wear and impressions. Some partitions are loose.
