A CASED PAIR OF 38-BORE PERCUSSION DUELLING TARGET PISTOLS By Robert Anderson 31 Cockspur St., London, No. 30, 1831 With browned scratch rifled octagonal twist barrels signed in full on the top flat and with blued fore-sights, scroll engraved case-hardened patent breeches each with three platinum lines and pierced platinum plug, scroll engraved case-hardened tangs each incorporating the back-sight, signed flat case-hardened border engraved detented locks finely engraved with scrollwork and each with engraved safety-catch (the hammers each a working replacement), finely figured walnut half-stocks with flattened chequered butts, iron mounts including serial numbered scroll engraved blued trigger-guards, case-hardened trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, silver escutcheaons with owner's crest and initials 'JP', horn fore-end caps, original brass-mounted ramrods each with worm, and nearly all their original finish: in lined and fitted mahogany case, almost certainly original, with accessories including Dixon powder-flask, London proof marks, barrelsmith's mark TP 15 5/8in.
