A cased selection of microscope accessories Husbands, Bristol, third quarter of the 19th century To include a matched group of objective lens canisters labelled for 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 ins, a double nosepiece, stage and hand forceps, two Lieberkuhn attachments, an eyepiece lens, two live boxes, a parabolic condenser, a polarizer in rotating mount, a glass box specimen compressor, and two brass compressors each signed HUSBANDS BRISTOL, all contained in a fitted mahogany box 23cm (9ins) wide, (some items substituted, one vacant aperture). Provenance: The Maurice Gillett collection of microscopy, inventory refs. G3238 to G3242 inclusive and G3107. The firm Husbands is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS & RETAILERS as established by Henry Husbands in around 1840 and was located 8 Augustine’s Parade, Bristol until circa 1890.
