A Charles X mahogany two-day marine chronometer Berthoud Freres No. 215, circa 1825 The silvered dial of regulator format signed and numbered Berthoud Freres N 215 subsidiary hours dial with Roman numerals, outer minute dial with Arabic five minute intermarkers, Breguet blued steel hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds dial with blued steel hand, the frame with grey steel tapered pillars the top-plate inscribed Berthoud Freres N. 215 and with elongated steel end caps to pivot holes, Earnshaw escapement, 18000 count train, Berthoud pivoted detent with jewelled locking stone, cut bimetallic three-armed balance each arm with small segmental heat compensation weight, black finish steel helical balance spring, balance bridge with levelling and clamping assembly for top coil, mounted in brass drum cover contained within gimballed brass outer bowl with bolt action locking arm, plain two-tier mahogany box, the top with viewing port and sliding cover with inset diamond-form brass plaque inscribed 215 , the bottom with plinth base and double action lock, brass external handles. 77 mm dial diam., Box 160 x 160 x 130 mm 77 mm dial diam., Box 160 x 160 x 130 mm
