A charming fan , the leaf painted with an elegant family by a river, with one little boy on leading strings, another riding a dog through the water, a little girl with a doll, with haymaking beyond, the border painted with birds, shells and fountains, the verso with a young girl watching as her sailor boy friend unpacks presents for her, whilst another boy weighs them on scales, with shipping and a castle beyond, the mother of pearl sticks carved and pierced with Europa and the Bull and painted and lacquered with vignettes of lovers, a fountain, sea shells and garlands of flowers - 11in.
