A CHINESE BAMBOO BITONG 18TH CENTURY Carved with four scholars in a boat travelling down a mountain river amongst pine trees, the rim and base with hardwood mounts, 16cm. Provenance: from the collection of Professor J Norman Collie, FRS (1859-1942) and thence by descent. Cf. L C S Tam, Chinese Bamboo Carving, pp.236-237, no.52 for a similar example of a bitong with Immortals in a boat.
