A CHINESE SWORD with double-edged blade silver-damascened with Deities, Immortals, Lanca characters, Qianlong seal marks, constellations and dragons, shaped quillon-block and pommel each pierced and engraved with a dragon and foliage on both sides, and bone grip-scales engraved with male figures in a landscape; a ceremonial executioner's sword with massive single-edged blade hooked at the point and forte, the handle formed from a section of elephant tusk (split) with white-metal sleeve at each end embossed with foliage, possibly Burmese; two pairs of similar ceremonial swords, each with brass-covered handle embossed and chased with dancing figures and foliage; two brass-mounted polearms of naginata form, each with sword-shaped blade, and brass-mounted black lacquered scabbard, both on wooden staff with brass shoe (one tsuba missing), all 19th Century or later; and an Indian spear with leaf-shaped blade of hollow diamond section, and chiselled socket with silver-damascened decoration, on later bamboo staff, 18th Century The first 35in. blade (9)
