A CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY TALL-CASE CLOCK DIAL SIGNED THOMAS SHAW LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA, 1766-1795 The hood with swan's neck pediment terminating in carved and gilt-decorated rosettes centering a bronze figure above a molded arched cornice, the engraved brass dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings enclosing a sweep seconds and calender ring surmounted by a lunar dial engraved THOMAS SHAW LANCASTER above a painted harbor scene all flanked by fluted colonettes with brass Corinthian capitals all over a waisted case with a dentil-molded frieze and an arched panelled cupboard door flanked by fluted quarter columns over a rectangular box base with chamfered corners, on ogee bracket feet, glazed door to dial face missing, restorations to feet 89¼in. high, 17½in. wide, 9¾in. deep
