A collection of eleven fans, 18th/19th century comprising: a printed boxwood fan, entitled ‘Nelson & Victory’, dated 1799; an ivory marriage fan, circa 1720, the Dutch leaf painted with Europa and the Bull, the associated sticks, carved with peasant figures, 27cm.; a mother of pearl fan, circa 1730-1740, the leaf painted with Aeneas, the Sybil and his friend Achates visiting the Underworld, the sticks silvered and gilt with chinoiserie figures, paste pivot, 28cm., in original fishskin case; an English ivory fan, circa 1745-1750, the leaf painted with a bagpiper and shepherdesses dressed in plaid, the verso with figures in landscape, the mounts carved, gilt and painted with further patriotic musicians, within fruits and musical trophies, paste pivot, 28.5cm., 11in long, in original fishskin case; an ivory fan with plain white leaf; two Japanese wood fans, circa 1900, the gold painted leaves painted with figures in landscapes, one with a poem on the reverse, the other signed Toryo nai Teiunkan shu, and with seals on each side, 33 and 36cm.; a French mother-of-pearl fan, mid 19th century, the layered mother of pearl sticks and guards carved and pierced with a grape harvest; two Spanish coloured ivory printed fans, 1850-1860, in Renaissance or 18th century dress, and another, silk and wood, 20th century Quantity: 11
