SAFAVID AND QAJAR IRAN, 17TH-19TH CENTURY
A COLLECTION OF SIX CALLIGRAPHIC PANELS IN SHIKASTEH SCRIPT SAFAVID AND QAJAR IRAN, 17TH-19TH CENTURY Comprising a panel with elegant black shikasteh script arranged in two columns and laid down on marbled paper borders, with signature reading Muhammad [..] Mirza Kuchak (?) and date of Dhu al-Hijja AH 1170, the reverse with later attribution to Darwish ; a panel with script of various sizes and angles, possibly signed, laid down on blue marbled margins; a large panel with script arranged in two columns, on silver-speckled paper with floral illumination, on salmon-pink cardboard; a panel with three lines of black script in clouds within floral illumination, on brown card; a panel with 8 lines of black shikasteh on lavender-blue paper, between yellow borders, dated Jumada I AH 1274; and a panel with 12ll. of black shikasteh script in clouds on gold ground, laid down between floral borders, the reverse with later attribution to Darwish The largest panel 11 x 7¼in.
