A Colored Man Round the World, by a Quadroon, printed for the author, [Cleveland], 1858, wood-engraved frontispiece, scattered light spotting, previous owner signature to front pastedown, original blindstamped cloth, small tears and nicks at spine ends, 8vo Sabin 20639. David Dorr (circa 1828-1872) was a slave born in New Orleans and accompanied his master Cornelius Fellowes on his travels to Europe and the Middle East from 1851 to 1854. Upon their return to the United States, Fellowes reneged on his promise of freedom and Dorr escaped from Louisiana to Ohio, where in Cleveland, four years later published this account of his travels based on a diary he had kept.
