A Continental Gold and Enamel Etui, circa 1860, the flattened tapered cylindrical case with enameled inscription "L'Amitie vous l'Offre" on a translucent blue shield with foliate pendants and lozenges below, all against a light blue enamel ground, the opposite side with a purple and gold flower in an opaque white shield with a black reserve below, the gold rims chased with running foliage, together with a pair of scissors with steel blades, a bodkin and an ear pick, case with French import marks for 1864-93, scissors, bodkin and ear pick with maker's mark LJ/P, Paris, and guarantee mark for post 1838. Length 5 3/4 inches. Estimate $ 300-500 Scissors function smoothly but have some oxidation to the blades and surface scratches throughout. Ear scoop slightly bent; bodkin and scoop with surface scratches. Surface residue, a hairline crack and a few scratches to the enamel. Base mount dented.
