A DIRECTOIRE PATINATED-BRONZE AND ROUGE GRIOTTE MARBLE STRIKING MANTEL CLOCK CIRCA 1795-1800, THE CASE ATTRIBUTED TO CLAUDE GALLE THE REGENCY MOVEMENT BY JOHN MOORE & SON, LONDON CASE: modelled with an Egyptian female figure inscribing a plaque with a protractor and a set square, formerly holding a pen, flanked to one side by an obelisk incised with hieroglyphs, with crescent moon mounts to the columns beside her, the marble plinth raised on anthemion paw feet, paper inventory label to one side DIAL: white enamel and signed 'JOHN MOORE & SON CLERKENWELL LONDON', gilt moon hands, replaced hour MOVEMENT: eight day, with twin chain fusees, anchor escapement and rack strike-on-bell, with repeat signature to back plate 17½ in. (44.5 cm.) high, 18 in. (45.5 cm.) wide, 7½ in. (18 cm.) deep
