A Dutch burr walnut quarter striking alarm longcase clock with ships automaton, Henricus Van Vlijmen third quarter 18th Century 34-cm arched brass dial, engraved chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Henricus Van Vlijmen Amsteldam, pierced blued hands, alarm disc and subsidiary seconds, apertures for date, day, month and moonphase, polychrome painted theatrical opening below showing the Tafelberg with ships rocking to and fro' on a choppy sea, connected to the going train of the anchor movement with rack Dutch quarter striking on alternating bells, alarm on the large bell, burr walnut veneered case with bell top surmounted by a parcel gilt Atlas and two angels, pierced frets to the front and sides, trunk with string inlay and Chronos lenticle, similar inlay to the base with curbed knees and scroll feet 280cm. high including atlas
