A Dutch ebonised and brass-mounted striking table clock with pull quarter repeat and alarm Jacobus Hasius, Amsterdam. Circa 1705 The case with double scroll handle to pierced repoussé brass basket top, each side with two pierced brass frets, with further fret to the front door top rail, the stepped and moulded base raised on later claw and bun feet, the 18 cm. (7 in.) square brass dial with engraved border, winged cherub mask spandrels to silvered chapter ring with elaborate sword hilt half hour markers and cross half quarter hour markers, signed Jacob Hasius Amsterdam , matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, ringed winding holes and with engraving around the date aperture, blued steel hands (later minute), centred by a silvered alarm-setting disc, strike/silent lever above 60 and alarm winding square below upper left spandrel, the eight day movement secured with blued steel brackets (later) to the lower back plate and with turn catches to the dial, with seven ringed pillars, twin gut fusees, verge escapement, hour strike on one bell and pull quarter repeat on three further bells, the alarm work on sub-assembly to the front plate and sounding on the hour bell, the back plate with pierced and engraved apron and with foliate scroll engraving around a cartouche signed Jacob Hasius/Amsterdam ; double-ended winding key, two case keys 39.5 cm. high, handle down
