A Dutch large ebonised and brass-mounted striking table clock with moonphase The movement and dial by Anthony Janszen, Amsterdam, third quarter 18th Century; the case later, probably 19th Century The case with brass handle and vase finials to inverted bell top, with tall sound frets to the sizes, the moulded plinth raised on bracket feet, the 20 cm. (8½ in.) wide brass dial with engraved border, foliate cast spandrels to silvered and arcaded Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Antony Janszen/AMSTERDAM , gilt and matted centre with further engraving around the mock pendulum and date apertures, blued steel hands, strike/silent lever by 15, the silvered and engraved arch ring showing flying cherubs and with aperture giving the age of the moon, the orbs depicting figures, with painted and engraved rolling moon, the eight day movement with five latched pillars, twin gut fusees and verge escapement, Dutch rack strike and trip repeat on two bells, the back plate engraved with cornucopiae and foliate scrolls around an oval reserve with repeat signature; case key 55 cm. high, handle down
