A FANTASY CASTLE BY WILLIAM TOLLIDAY Realistically modelled as a multi-turreted castle perched on the ridge of a snow-capped mountain, a bridge traversing a ravine linking a line of fir trees, and gate house below, formed from various materials including white quartz, malachite and differently-coloured agates, with baguette-cut diamonds representing the castle's window slits, 30.0 cm high, 29.0 cm wide, 20.0 cm deep, with a fitted green leather and gilt tooled display case Signed in script by William Tolliday William Tolliday joined Garrard, the Crown Jeweller, in 1970 as a goldsmith. He soon began to specialise in the creation of amazingly detailed fairytale castles and collages, deriving his inspiration from alpine scenes, particularly in Scandanavia.
