A FATIMID WHITE MARBLE WATER JAR AND STAND ( KILGA ) EGYPT, 11TH/12TH CENTURY The stand with four slightly bowed legs connected by cusped arches, the rectangular hollowed out body with bevelled corners containing quatrefoils engraved in relief, extended trough at front with rounded base and carved spout, separate large ovular jar with rounded raised rim, left and right hand sides of the stand with horseman hawking carved in relief together with confronted rabbits, traces of kufic calligraphy around the perimeter of the trough, two projecting bosses originally in the form of lions' heads to the front of the stand, repair to the water jar, rubbed Jar 26in. (66cm.) high; stand 13¾ x 22 x 12½in. (35 x 56 x 31.8cm.) at largest
