A fine and detailed wood and bone model of a Royal Naval 48-gun frigate with bound bone lower masts, yards with stun's'l booms with full standing and running rigging, figurehead carved in the form of three female figures, one with halo, hair rails, anchors, catheads, belaying rails and pins, capstan, stove pipe, ship's bell, deck rails, companionways, hammock nettings, water barrels, deck lights, locker, double helm of bone, well deck with bone deck head supports, three boats with thwarts and oars and upper deck guns in carriages. The finely planked, unpinned hull is decorated with carved leaves and flowers along the bulwarks, the stern with female figures flanking military trophies, and is finished in varnish with black strakes and mounted on bone supports on an inlaid bone and wood display stand -- 20 x 29in. (50.8 x 73.7cm.)
