BY ALEXR. HENRY, EDINBURGH & LONDON, MAKER TO THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESS' THE PRINCE OF WALES AND THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH, SERIAL NO. 4157 FOR 1877
A FINE CASED .360 (2¼IN. BLACK POWDER EXPRESS) DOUBLE-BARRELLED TOP-LEVER HAMMER RIFLE BY ALEXR. HENRY, EDINBURGH & LONDON, MAKER TO THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESS' THE PRINCE OF WALES AND THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH, SERIAL NO. 4157 FOR 1877 With browned twist barrels signed in full and marked 'PATENT NO. 3216' on the matt rib, slighted raised bead fore-sight, rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves graduated to 200 yards and each with a platinum-inlaid centre-line, border and scroll engraved case-hardened action and signed rebounding locks, the former with carved fences, figured 14¼in. (36.2cm.) pistol-grip stock with chequered grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, border and scroll engraved iron mounts including pistol-grip cap with hinged trap-cover, and much original faded finish throughout, London black powder proof marks, in original brass-cornered oak and leather fitted case lined in pigskin with accessories including iron bullet-mould for a conical bullet serial numbered to the rifle and marked 'AH', and brass Hawksley 360 capper/de-capper, the lid with Alexander Henry trade label, the exterior with remains of luggage storage labels and named 'PERCY H. COOPER' (case-straps missing, lock at fault) 25in. (63.5cm.) barrels
