MID-19TH CENTURY
A FINE CASED PAIR OF BELGIAN 40-BORE PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS MID-19TH CENTURY With blued faceted and fluted sighted barrels respectively numbered '1' and '2' in gold at the breech, case-hardened tangs, locks and mounts all finely chiselled with scrollwork, ebonised half-stocks each carved with foliage on the fore-end and with fluted butt, and retaining nearly all their original finish, in original close-fitted hardwood case lined in purple velvet with accessories including small brass-mounted pistol-flask, ebonised loading mallet and iron pincer-type bullet-mould, the exterior of the case elaborately inlaid with brass scrollwork and a large shaped brass escutcheon 9½in (24.2cm) barrels
