The firm of Payne and Company was founded by William Payne who is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in London circa 1820-40, other sources suggest that he worked from 1811 until 1856 with the firm continuing to trade as Payne and Company until around 1875.
