A FINE FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAHOGANY, TULIPWOOD, SYCAMORE AND STAINED FRUITWOOD MARQUETRY BUREAU PLAT BY ALFRED-EMMANUEL-LOUIS BEURDELEY, PARIS, CIRCA 1890 With a serpentine ormolu-moulded top inset with a gilt-tooled red leather writing surface, the shaped frieze fitted with five floral-inlaid drawers within foliate-cast encadrements , the reverse similarly-decorated with false drawers, the sides inlaid with floral marquetry, with ribbon-tied laurel festoons with a central oval medallion and pair of interlocking cornucopia emerging from palm fronds, the tapering reed-cast legs each headed by a lion pelt, on scrolled feet, the underside stamped A. BEURDELEY/A PARIS four times, the reverse of the mounts variously incised ZN , the lockplates stamped MON THEAU/THIEFFINE SUCCR/SERRURIER/PARIS 30¾ in. (78 cm.) high, 72½ in. (184 cm.) wide, 39¾ in. (101 cm.) deep
