A fine mid 19th Century eight-day marine chronometer the silvered dial signed and numbered James Murray Maker to the Royal Navy Exchange, London 1229 , Roman hour numerals, Arabic 5-minute inter markers, gold hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds dial with blued steel hand and up-and-down dial with gold hand, main frame assembly carrying reversed fusee and center wheel, round sub-frame assembly carring remainder of train and fitted with semi-circular brass guard, Earnshaw escapement, cut bi-metallic balance with segmental heat compensation weights, spring foot detent with jewelled pallet, brass bowl and gimbal, 3-tier brass-bound mahogany box (replacement lid) , flush recessed brass handles, rectangular ivory plaque to front of centre section inscribed ' Jas Murray, Royal Exchange, London' -- 8½in. (21.5cm.) high
