A FINE, ORIGINAL AND DETAILED EARLY 19 TH CENTURY FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BOXWOOD AND EBONY MODEL OF A 70-GUN THIRD RATE SHIP-OF-THE-LINE with bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with carved blocks, two ship's boats slung between the fore and main masts, carved figurehead in the form of a warrior with shield and spear, head rails, boomkins, catheads with metal anchors with painted wooden stocks, main and belaying rails, bitts, deck rings, capstan, gratings, stove pipe, well deck with ballustrading and belfry and ship's boat in chocks with bottom boards, thwarts, oars and rudder, water barrels, gratings, bilge pump/hydrant, bench, companionways, deckhouse and other details. The planked and pinned hull with ebony main wale, gun ports with turned metal guns, rudder and finely carved transom, stern and quarter galleries is secured to two turned wooden columns on a parquetry display base with ballustrade and feet.
