A FINE PAIR OF NAPOLEON III ORMOLU-MOUNTED CUT-BRASS, RED TORTOISESHELL-INLAID AND EBONY 'BOULLE' COMMODES AFTER THE CELEBRATED MODEL BY ANDRE-CHARLES BOULLE, BY CHARLES-GUILLAUME WINCKELSEN, PARIS, CIRCA 1867 Each with a beveled levanto rosso marble top above a berried guilloche frieze and a pair of concave and convex première partie -inlaid drawers, the upper drawer centred by a scrolled acanthus-cast escutcheon, the undersides of the handles stamped with various numbers, the sides similarly decorated with scrolling foliage, the reverse with contre partie -inlaid panels, the angles headed by winged caryatids, the reverse of the caryatid mounts with the inscription Blake London from the master-model, on acanthus-sheathed cabriole legs tapering to hairy paw sabots and spiral-turned supports, the top of both cases with various French export stamps, the underside of one commode stamped CH L E S WINCKELSEN 49.
