A FINE SAFAVID QALAMDAN with rounded ends and separate cover, the black top and sides finely painted with a variety of floral sprays including roses, plum blossom, hazlenuts, pinks, scabious and primula together with perching birds and butterflies, the top also with an added attribution signature to Muhammad Zaman, in a black border of gold floral meander, the red base with simple leafy cruciform medallions, the interior of the cover elaborately painted with an extensive landscape of European inspiration with lakes, trees and a variety of buildings, the interior of the base plain green, probably by Muhammad Zaman, circa 1770 (slight damage and repairs) 12 7/8in. (32.8cm.) long
