A fine silver Augsburg-pattern compass sundial, signed on the underside of the compass box Lorenz Grasl Augspurg , the corners of the upper surface of the horizontal plate with engraved floral decoration, the hour ring engraved II-XII, I-IX , with sprung pin gnomon, the folding latitude arc engraved for 0-90°, the folding plummet support with scroll decoration and plummet, the glazed compass box surrounded by thirty-two engraved compass directions, with flag-shaped wind vane, the axis pivoting within the folding rectangular -shaped support, the base of the compass box engraved with the four main compass directions SEPTENT/NORD, ORIENTS/OST, MERIDI/SUD, OCIDENT/WEST with engraved arrow pointing to W¼NN and central floral decoration, the iron needle with brass cap, the underside with engraved fixings beneath the latitude arc and plummet support and three pin feet, the underside of the compass box engraved with the latitudes of five cities ( see below ) -- 3.1/8 x 3¼in.
