Curved 30 1/2 inch blade of very finely watered steel, one side chiseled with two inscription panels, the inscriptions overlaid in gold. Solid silver tulwar hilt with long, narrow languets and short quillons, decorated overall with relief scrollwork. Quillon buttons chased with blossoms. Large disc pommel, the underside with relief scrollwork, the upper with bands of repeating motifs. Associated scabbard, the silver mounts probably English and finely chased with lions, scrollwork, florals and griffons. The lions quite possibly a reference to the East India Company. Scabbard body a modern restoration made in India and covered in purple velour. Condition: Excellent. Blade showing some very minor wear to Damascus pattern and some very light pitting at the point. Hilt and scabbard mounts cleaned and showing few light marks. See Illustration
