A FINE ZAND GOLD INLAID WATERED STEEL DAGGER ( kard ), with tapering single edged watered steel blade inlaid on each side with cusped gold panels leaving elegant reserved calligraphy, the spine carved with an arabesque extending in a narrow line to the tip, the collar also inlaid with a gold ground reserved against which are further naskh inscriptions, the hilt medial ridge similar, plain walrus ivory facings, signed above the collar 'the work of Hajji Isma'il' and dated 1202 (1787-8 AD), (negligible loss of gold inlay) associated wooden box 15½in. (39.2cm.) long
