A FINE ZAREH PENYAMIN KOUM KAPI RUG after the Safavid Polonaise original, the silver-covered-thread ground with dense scrolling palmette vine and serrated leaves executed in pastel colours around a gold-covered-thread medallion containing similar motifs, part pistachio-green mdeallions in the centre of each side, in a border of rose-pink and lemon-yellow scrolling arabesques enclosing gold- and silver-covered-thread palmettes between inner meandering vine and outer continuous trefoil stripes, a short kilim strip at each end, signed in at least five places by Zareh Penyamin (minute selvedge damage, otherwise excellent condition) 6ft.6in. x 3ft.8in. (198cm. x 115cm.)
