A FINELY DETAILED AND WELL-PRESENTED MODEL OF THE ROYAL NAVY'S 40-GUN FRIGATE H.M.S. HUDSON (1790) modelled by J.A. Brown with cut-away bound masts, carved and painted lion figurehead, head rails, bowsprit, catheads, anchors with bound wooden stocks and ropes, bitts, bollards, belaying rails and pins, gratings, shot racks and shot, cannon in stepped and rigged wooden carriages, deck rings, stove pipe, well-deck with four stayed ship's boats with cross boards, thwarts and oars over, companionways, capstan, finely carved fourteen-spoke double helm, stern davits with finely detailed ship's clinker built boat and many other details. The planked and framed hull with planked and pinned deck, Venetian red bulwarks, hinged gun ports, copper sheathing below the waterline, boarding companionway, chain plates and deadeyes, main wale, glazed stern and quarter lights and rudder, is finshed in ochre, black and varnish and mounted on a display base with legend and plexi-glass cover.
