A Five-Case Lacquer Inro, A Four-Case Wood Inro, and Three Other Inro** Edo-Meiji period (19th century), the first signed Shosen and with kao , the second signed Hoshosai Comprising a five-case lacquer inro decorated in gold, silver, red and black takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with a phoenix on a paulownia tree, fitted with an ivory dragon and puppy netsuke and orange bead ojime ; a four-case wood inro carved as a node of bamboo, each side with a snail in gold lacquer; a three-case ebony inro carved with Chinese immortals in landscapes, the netsuke carved with pavilions, signed Somai, lacquer bead ojime ; a carved fruit nut three-case oval inro with tigers in willow trees, the interior gold lacquer, fruit nut netsuke carved as a boat, bead ojime ; a wood and horn one-case inro painted with a lady in a Chinese pavilion, the cover with inscription The lacquer inro 4in.
