Beschreibung:

A Flemish tapestry panel with birds in a garden, early 18th century, possibly Lille, with a hawk, parrot and chickens in a formal garden setting showing rose bushes, a pond and view to a sprawling parterre beyond, later backed, 168 x137cm overall including later light blue selvedges A tapestry which features a similar group of fighting birds and onlooking parrot before a comparable garden setting is in the National Trust collection at Packwood House, Warwickshire. Condition Report: The tapestry bears the usual minor marks, nicks and wear overall consistent with age. The colours are well-preserved to the lower part of the scene, however the sky and architecture are a little more faded. There is also an area of reweaving/repair to the sky. Some stitching along colour joins particularly the foliage, and one or two old repairs/restorations to grass, though quite subtle and minimal. Condition Report Disclaimer
