A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED, AMBOYNA, KINGWOOD-OUTLINED, BOIS SATINE AND PARQUETRY-INLAID BONHEUR DU JOUR, by Paul Sormani Paris, the upper part with a pierced three-quarter gallery centred by a panelled door, opening to reveal four small drawers and flanked to each side by a glazed panel door, each with a shelf to the interior, the projecting angles each with a caryatid above acanthus scroll and floral pendant, the lower part with a hinged slope opening to reveal two drawers and a sliding cover to a well, the lock signed PAUL SORMANI 10 Rue Charlot Paris , the frieze centred by a projecting tablet mounted with ribbon-tied trophies with vines and musical instruments, the sides each with a ribbon-tied palm spray, on four square-tapering legs headed by scrolled keeled angles with foliate sabots (the hinges replaced), late 19th Century 27in. (68.8cm.) wide; 46¾in. (118.8cm.) high; 20½in. (52cm.) deep
