A FRENCH SILVER INKSTAND, 1840-1879, the shaped long oval inkstand with two openwork foliate scroll feet to the front and back, the two sides with sloping feet headed by griffin's mask, the sides, part of the ground and part of the urn form ink pots, engine turned, the pots, one two handled (one handle replaced with metal), with raised hinged cover topped by female portrail bust, centering seated Classical figure holding a table engraved LEI and in the other hand a sword, bordered by rocaille C scroll, the far ground with openwork foliate scroll pen rest-- 13¾in. (34.9cm.) long ; together with a matching bell (clapper lacking); together with an English, silver mounted glass inkpot on stand-- the stand London, 1797, maker's mark of John Emes the mount to the pot Victorian, maker's mark FB and together with a small Continental example, with ink and pounce pot-- 5in. (12.7cm.) long, weighable silver 27oz.
