A FULL-SIZE TWIN CYLINDER, A-FRAME VERTICAL ENGINE, circa 1880, the cylinders are 3in bore x 3in stroke, have inward facing valve chests with inlet and exhaust pipes, and are mounted on the moulded cast iron bed. The piston rods drive fully gib and cottered and strapped connecting rods. The piston rod crosshead has slippers running in vertical gunmetal guides mounted on four turned columns bolted to the H-section A-frames. The crankshaft has disc cranks with large eccentrics with cast iron straps and bearing caps. The flywheel is crowned for belt work and painted in original green and lined in straw colour. Polished brightwork, 23½in (60cm) high, 18in (46cm) wide Fußnoten Presented to E.G. Brodie Esq., with maker's plate engraved "George Jolly, designed and constructed in Borneo in 1880".
