A George II English silver tankard with cover Mark of Robert Brown London, 1737 Tapering cylindrical, on moulded foot, the plain body with applied border, plain scroll handle, domed cover with foliage scroll thumbpiece, the reverse with inscription: 'E.F. BENSON 1915' and ROBERT HODGSON of HIGH CAYTON & NUNWICK married ELEANOR TAYLOR in 1736. Their daughter MARGARET (1750-1795) married CHRISTOPHER BENSON of YORK, & HAREFIELD, PATELEY BRIDGE: whose daughter, ELEANOR SARAH, married her first cousin, Captain WHITE BENSON. Their grandson was ARCHBISHOP BENSON' and two coat-of-arms, ' fully marked on cover and body 17 cm. high 598 gr.
