THE CASE AND MOVEMENT CIRCA 1735, THE LATER DIAL SIGNED EDWARD MOORE OXFORD
A GEORGE II MINIATURE GREEN AND GILT-JAPANNED OAK WALL CLOCK The case and movement circa 1735, the later dial signed Edward Moore Oxford CASE: hood with moulded arch top surmounted by three replaced giltwood ball finials, glazed side panels, the trunk with chinoiserie decoration to the sides and raised gilt chinoiserie decoration to the rectangular moulded frame door, the base with further chinoiserie decoration, restorations to decoration; case key DIAL: 4¼ in. wide brass dial plate with silvered and engraved Roman and Arabic chapter ring, date square to the plain brass centre and signed Edwd. Moore/Oxford in the arch, with replaced blued-steel hands MOVEMENT: with five delicate ring-turned pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on replaced bell, with alterations, replaced seat board; pendulum, two weights, winding key 53 in. (135 cm.) high; 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) wide; 5 in. (13 cm.) deep
