A George III brass-mounted ebonised striking and musical eight day table clock Stephen Rimbault, London. Circa 1765 The case with brass handle to brass-bound bell top, the front and rear brass-lined doors with engraved brass quarter frets, the sides with brass-lined glazed roundels and panels, with caryatid mounts to all chamfered corners, brass-bound plinth raised on brass bracket feet, the 7 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, mock pendulum aperture and date square to the matted centre with applied silvered plaque signed Step: Rimbault/LONDON , the arch with subsidiary four tune music selection ring ( Belleisle March/Minuet/Air/Lady Coveny: Minuet ), strike/not strike lever to III, blued steel hands, the movement with six ring-turned pillars, triple line fusees, replaced verge escapement, hour strike on single (replaced) bell and striking the quarters and hourly music on a nest of nine bells via sixteen hammers and 7 cm. long pinned barrel 19 in. (48 cm.) high, handle down
