A George III gilt-brass mounted mahogany quarter striking eight day table clock John Ellicott London. Circa 1780 The bell top case with gilt-brass flame urn finials, handles to the sides above brass-lined sound frets, the canted angles with mounts cast as caryatids trailing flowers, brass-lined front door with silk-backed quarter frets, brass-bound base raised on scroll feet, the 8 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Ellicott London , date square to the matted centre and strike/silent to the arch, blued steel hands, the substantial movement with seven ring-turned pillars, triple chain fusees, later anchor escapement, striking the quarters on a nest of eight bells and the hours on further bell; pendulum, winding key 25 in. (63.5 cm.) high
