A GEORGE III JEWELLED GOLD-MOUNTED GLASS AND HARDSTONE NÉCESSAIRE LONDON, CIRCA 1765/1770 tapering flattened rectangular glass étui painted to resemble beige agate, with slightly arched hinged agate cover and base, pierced gold cagework mounts stamped with reeded scrolls and foliage, the obverse and reverse of cover and base applied with gold foliate filigree work set with diamonds, emeralds and rubies, the interior fitted with a pair of gold-mounted scissors, a chased gold folding-knife, a chased gold ear-spoon, a chased gold bodkin-case, a gold bodkin and file and two gold-mounted ivory tablets, diamond-set button push-piece 4 1/8 in. (104 mm.) high
