A George III large mahogany one-day marine chronometer Signed Barraud, London, No.250 with possible attributions to Thomas Earnshaw. Late 18th century The silvered dial of regulator format, eccentric subsidiary hour dial with Roman numerals (at VI), concentric minutes dial with Arabic 60-10-20 et seque , subsidiary seconds dial (at XII), signed (faintly) BARRA---, -O-DON , blued steel hands, large full plate thirty six hour movement (135mm. diam.), the top plate signed and numbered BARRAUD Cornhill, LONDON No.250 , Earnshaw escapement, large pivoted detent (possibly experimental), with adjusting screw to vary the depthing of the horn set in the steel pivoting arbor, very high steel locking pallet, three-armed bimetallic balance each with short segmented heat compensation weight; in an associated brass-bound mahogany box with brass drop handles 142mm. dial diam., box 234mm. sq.
