A GEORGE III SILVER-GILT CHARGER
MARK OF RICHARD SIBLEY LONDON, 1816 AND 1817
A GEORGE III SILVER-GILT CHARGER MARK OF RICHARD SIBLEY LONDON, 1816 AND 1817 Circular, the broad rim cast and chased with grapevine and hops on textured ground, the centre applied with plaque cast and chased with bacchic putto in a landscape, later applied with a suspension loop, the back engraved with two crests, marked on back and on central plaque 23 in. (58.4 cm.) diam. 136 oz. (4,231 gr.) The crests are those of Guinness with the cadency mark for the second son, and Lee, possibly for Benjamin Lee Guinness (1798-1868) of Ashford Castle, co. Galway, later created a baronet in 1867, second surving son of Arthur Guinness (1768-1855).
