A George III silver-gilt tea-kettle, stand and lamp Mark of Edward Farrell, London, 1818 The kettle, spherical, cast and chased on one side with the family of Darius before Alexander, on the other with Tomyris being presented with the head of Cyrus, on a matted ground, the spout formed as a mythical beast, a vacant baroque cartouche below, the swing handle of two sea-serpents, the openwork base cast and chased with floral and fruiting vines with birds, shells and masks of Bacchus, on three sea-serpent monopodia and foliate feet, the support with a scroll and rocaille border with grotesque masks, with plain circular lamp and cover, marked on side of tea-kettle, side of stand, base and side of lamp, and lamp cover 16¼in. (41.5cm.) high gross 162oz. (5,066gr.)
