(Silver & Objects of Vertu, 25th March 2020) A George IV sterling silver teapot, London 1821 by Phillip Rundell (reg 4th March 1819) A George IV sterling silver teapot, London 1821 by Phillip Rundell (reg 4th March 1819) Of inverted baluster form, the wide fluted underside met with a plain band then an embossed band of stylised leaf forms centred with a cinquefoil. The everted rim with acanthus scroll and shell rim leading to a hinged disc and domed lid surmounted by a detachable fluted ivory knop finial. The curved spout with acanthus leaf base opposite an ivory scroll handle with a bifurcated acanthus leaf junction. Engraved to the side with a crest of a castle with two turrets, the obverse with initials TEI in cursive script flourished. Fully marked to side, part-marked to lid. Length – 28 cm / 11 inches Weight – 872 grams / 28.04 ozt T The crest is possibly for Elkins or Endas
