A GERMAN D.B. PERCUSSION COMBINED SPORTING GUN AND RIFLE By A. Dickoré in Giessen, circa 1840 With browned twist sighted barrels signed in gold capital letters on the rib, the right barrel rifled and of 30-bore, the left barrel smooth and of 22-bore, case-hardened patent breeches, long scroll engraved case-hardened tang, signed case-hardened back-action locks each signed in silver and engraved with scrollwork enclosing a dog and a hind, each within a landscape, engraved hammers, the nose on each chiselled in the form of a stylised lion-head, swivelling safety-stops, figured walnut half-stock (minor bruising) with chequered grip and fore-end, the fore-end tip carved as a wolf-head with mother-of-pearl inlaid eyes, carved horn trigger-guard (small chip), chequered sliding patch-box cover, scroll engraved iron butt-plate, iron sling swivels, set trigger for the right barrel, and associated horn-tipped ramrod, Liège proof marks 27¾in. (70.5cm.) barrels
