A GERMAN ORMOLU AND MEISSEN PORCELAIN NINE-LIGHT CHANDELIER THE PORCELAIN SHAFT AND ARMS MODELLED BY J.J. KÄNDLER IN 1735, THE PORCELAIN BULB CIRCA 1742-45, THE MOUNTS MID-18TH CENTURY AND LATER The central porcelain section modelled by J.J.Kändler with three laughing pagoda figures, a gilt oriental baldachin above, surmounted by a baluster hexagonal-section upper part with colourful parrots, their lead heads issuing foliate branches terminating in flowerhead drip-pans and nozzles, each laughing pagoda figure issuing two scrolling flowering branches terminating with birds supporting ormolu flowerhead drip-pans and nozzles, the associated lower section comprising a bulb formed from an écuelle and cover decorated with figural scenes after Watteau, and applied with scrolling ormolu branches applied with porcelain flowers, adapted from a candelabrum, restorations to the porcelain, losses and replacements to the flowers, the drip-pans and nozzles probably 19th century and pierced for electricity 39 ½ in. (100 cm.) high; 20 in. (51 cm.) wide
